Summary: Mac Mini
Comment: The Mac Mini was the best computer purchase decision I ever made. After many years of PC problems that consumed more time and money than I want to remember, I switched to Mac. WOW what a difference it has made in my life. I used to spend 25% of my computer time trying to fix my PC and spent countless dollars on anti virus software and this cure and that cure software software products trying to speed up, clean up, and rid my computer of unwanted stuff that continually and persistantly ate away at my computers performance. Those days are gone now and at the end of the day my Mac Mini is like coming home to an old friend or in this case a New found friend that is super fast, easy to use, and the learning curve was so easy. I could be a salesman for these things because I`m man enough to admit ” I love my Mac.”

Summary: Little Powerhouse
Comment: I recently purchased this for my daughter who is going away to college. I own a Mac Pro G5 decktop personally and I can easily say that the Mini will do any task which my Mac Pro will do. I loaded Abobe Creative Suite, MS Word along with a few other software and was able to do all the things I needed to do graphically with this little wonder. I hooked it up to a Sam Sung 2450 monitor with no problem at all. I work for a printing company in their imaging department and would highly recommend the Mac Mini to anyone on a tight budget because you can use it with most existing monitors and usb keyboards. Its small footprint doesn’t take up much desk space, very energy efficient and runs cool even when working on heavy graphic tasks in Photoshop or Illustrator. I may be bias since I’m a Mac guy, but I’d say its easily worth the money when you compare it to the Mac Pro at 2k plus.

Summary: No Muss, No Fuss, Plenty of Power
Comment: My in-laws are PC users, but they love their Apple TVs. Problem was, keeping iTunes up and running all the time (to stream to the Apple TVs) on an ancient Windows machine with multiple use accounts. Other problem: I’m act their tech support department, and I’m hardly a qualified tech.
Solution: Stick a Mac Mini in an out-of-the-way spot to do nothing but stream iTunes to the Apple TVs.
No mouse, no monitor, just a Mac Mini.
If there’s ever a problem, I take care of it without ever leaving the house by logging in with Mac Screen Sharing.
But there’s never once been a problem.
Perfect.

Summary: Great Mac
Comment: Having primarily used iMacs and Mac Pros for several years now, I was unsure about buying a Mini. However, I am very happy with my purchase. Not only is it faster than I would have expected, but I have also noticed a considerable drop in my electric bill since switching to it (something I never even considered in the purchase). I do not consider it a step down or a lesser Mac as some suggest it is.
I primarily use the following software on my Mac Mini w/Snow Leopard and all work extremely well: Adobe CS4 versions of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator; Filemaker Pro 9; Office 2004; iWork 09; and VirtualBox.
The one slow down in the system is likely the internal hard drive. I found a significant speed increase by using an external USB drive to boot the Mini from. That said, I still primarily boot from the internal drive.
I have found the internal airport and bluetooth antennas to have excellent range.
The Mini runs whisper quiet and even having it’s dual core taxed 100% for extended periods I’ve only ever felt it to be slightly warm.
One minor issue is the power cord, which doesn’t have the snuggest fit. This normally isn’t a problem, however if you are unplugging a USB cable in the back that has intertwined with the power cord, it can easily pull it out too. This happened to me once while the Mini was on, so now when I need to make a change in back I always hold the power plug in place while I work on the cables.
